Ophidian Playground
Friday’s Vet Hunt took us to the Ophidian Lair. Now, I’ve fought Phids on many occasions, but never like this. Having never been there before I didn’t know quite what to expect, but I soon found out when the very first spawn that hit us, spawned right on top of my lance. I now know what it feels like to be a True Britannian. The evening started off as a slaughter…but the good kind of slaughter, the kind that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside because you’re laughing so hard at what’s going on around you. And it only got better… |
![]() Unfortuantely I was too busy dying during the first couple of waves of Phid spawn that I was unable to get any screenshots right away. But soon we had everything under control…and we only had 10 ghosts standing around waiting to be rezzed instead of 20….(or something like that). The spawns caused tremendous lag and all of us being in the same area didn’t help matters any. Here you see me hiding behind this dragon…wimpy, you say? Hiding behind a dragon is hardly what I would consider wimpy, ever get a big wiff of dragon rear? |
![]() This is pretty much how most of the hunt went. Lots of confusion…not knowing what needed provoking, not knowing which one you were attacking and lots of bodies, both Phids and our own. And A LOT of those annoying messages in the bottom left corner of your screen making it impossible to keep in touch with your lance through party chat…real irritating too, like having to listen to elevator music…or Kenny G. Everybody and their mother was out provoking that night, playing our intruments until our fingers bled. But that’s the best part…well that and the deathrobes. |
![]() Here we have one of the many spawns we encountered. Notice how they all spawn in one tiny area. Made lag a bitch. Which in turn made provo’ing that much more difficult and deathrobe collecting all the more likely. But I won’t complain, just adds more to my growing collection. Actually, being a ghost was actually quite fun…all of us standing around like “Hey” ‘Hi’ “I’m dead.” ‘Oh yeah? Me too.’ “What got you?” ‘Oh, that Avenger over there. You?’ “Shaman and Knight-Errant.” As you can see, there aren’t many people trying to melee the Phids (cause they’re all busy looting their corpses), so those standing around are the bards and mages….who will be looting their own corpses shortly. |
![]() I feel like Waldo in those Where’s Waldo? books. I’m not exactly sure where I am in this picture, probably getting my butt kicked somewhere in the middle of the mess. I spent most of the hunt running around provo’ing and rezzing, the rest of the time I spent as a ghost and looting my corpse. I lost all my regs when I died during the first spawn, so chasing people around so I could stay close enough to finish applying the bandages was a challenge. I think that’s the first time I went on a hunt and used almost all of my 200 bandies. Well worth it though. |
![]() I got some resist gains out of this one. And all that text in the bottom left corner of the screen (minus the three at the top) are all Phids attacking poor Nox Brood. Saw this alot actually, Nox being attacked by multiple Phids. Some people have all the luck. Mr Clean also got attacked by multiple Phids. Funny thing is, they are both candidates and they still want to join us after we fed them to the Phids. The dragon even stopped to smile for the camera. |
![]() This is during one of those slower moments actually. Overall it was a great hunt, deathrobes and all. I didn’t hear one complaint… except from Kielia who wanted to see more deathrobes. These are the kind of hunts where you don’t mind dying…repeatedly. Even when we were outnumbered with 20 ghosts running around we were able to hold off the Phids fairly well and after a while we even had less deaths. Lag was the major problem…it’s times like these that it kind of sucks to be on a dial-up. |
![]() *Wonders if anyone remembered to loot.* |
