General Rules

Marrach Faol has spent many years built a reputation for being an honorable guild with quality members.  Key to maintaining that reputation is our member’s adherence to the general rules outlined below.

Treat all you meet with respect and courtesy
Activities such as stealing, looting, spawn jumping, disrupting events, luring, smack talking, scamming, or PKing innocents are examples of activities that are incompatible with M^F membership.  This also means showing respect regardless of playstyle or template choice, and treating all of your guildmates with proper courtesy regardless of rank or tenure.

Exhibit good sportsmanship in PvP
Members of M^F may PvP alone or in groups as they see fit, provided they do so honorably.  The Bear Clann enjoys less restrictive PvP (including PKing, stealing).

Rules on Sparring/Dueling
Non-consensual aggressive activities towards your guildmates is unacceptable.  This includes attacking or stealing.  Sparring/Dueling must always be consentual.  Non-consentual duelling will result in very harsh action against the member in question.

Also, please observe the following guidelines:
– No sparring/dueling in the castle or on the lawn.
– No sparring/dueling in public places (i.e. in front of the Luna Bank).

Third party programs

  • ICQ is our communications tool of choice, and is mandatory for all candidates.
  • UO Automap is mandatory for all Lance Leaders and Hunt Leaders.
  • Teamspeak is HIGHLY encouraged for use on Champ Hunts and with Bear Clann PvP.

Handling issues with other members
If you are having problems with another member, please bring it to the attention to a High Council member so it can be resolved.  Publicly broadcasting issues and concerns with other members is both unproductive and inappropriate.

Behavior within the M^F Castle
Sparring, dueling, and casting of offensive spells (even on yourself) are all explicitly prohibited activities within the castle.   During gatherings, refrain from area effect spells and bardic music, and show all due courtesy and attention to the event/meeting sponsor.

Your non-M^F/B-C Alts
Generally, we are not concerned with the actions of our member’s other characters, until such time as those interactions damage the guild or result in harm towards it’s members. At this point, we will hold the player responsible for their actions and act accordingly.  Examples include scamming, use of exploits, and violations of the Ultima Online Terms of Service.

A more complex concern is the actions of non guilded alts in PvP activities.  While members are free to do with their alts what they wish*, we cannot condone intentional attacks on their guildmates using non guilded alts.  At the same time, we have an appreciation for the political dynamics in Felucca, and believe the rules below offer the best compromise.

– If you are on an alt, you may not initiate attacks on any M^F or B-C member.  If you are part of a larger group and participating in a raid, and see that the group you are engaging is M^F and/or B-C, you must immediately stand down.

– If while on your non M^F/B-C alt, you are attacked by M^F/B-C members, you are free to defend yourself, whether individually or as a part of a larger group that M^F/B-C has attacked.

Using the example below, if Zoe [B-C], and Jane [XYZ] are controlled by the same player:

  • If Zoe [B-C] and her
guildmates are raided by guild [XYZ], we would fully expect Zoe to aid in
    defending her guildies.
  • If Zoe [B-C] joins a romp, and
later discovers that they are about to raid an [XYZ] champ spawn, it is
perfectly honorable and acceptable for Zoe to stand down and depart.
However, it would be very bad form if Zoe then went and logged into Jane [XYZ]
    to attack her [B-C] guildmates.
  • If Jane [XYZ] and her
guildmates are the subject of an unprovoked attack by [B-C] members it is
perfectly acceptable for Jane to defend herself.
  • If Jane [XYZ] is asked to
participate in a raid, and sees that the raid is against [B-C] or [M^F]
members, then Jane would be expected to tell her [XYZ] guildmates that she
must stand down.  She should not be expected to retrieve her [B-C] alt.

And that really about covers it.

Bottom line.  Is that you should never participate in an aggressive action taken by any group against M^F/B-C.  Conversely, if M^F/B-C members initiate hostilities, you are well within your rights to defend yourself.

Please be aware that members violating these rules will be subject to dismissal.

* Members who have alts in guilds considered hostile, or guilds currently listed on the Bear Clann’s KOS list in the B-C ROE are ineligible for Ducal Guard and High Council positions.  If a DG/HC member has an alt in one of these guilds, the member may either remove the alt, or resign their post.
