Ascension Quest (3x)
This quest is put forth to all Marrach Faol members who have achieved five or more grandmastered skills. It’s designed to provide a fun and exciting challenge, and recognize members who have achieved this level of success.
The quest may be completed once per character. To participate, a member simply needs to ICQ the Guildmaster and let them know they wish to complete the quest. The member may then set off at their leisure. Once begun, the quest cannot be put on hold, and the member must continue on the quest with that character until completion.
The quest is as follows: The member shall step into the lands of Ilshenar with only the clothes on their back and a single item of their choosing. They will be assigned a task based on their profession (Warrior, Mage, or Bard), although the general rules below apply to each class. There is no separate quest for Tamers, so they will take the quest based on their secondary skill. i.e. Tamer/Mages take the mage quest, Tamer/Bards take the Bard quest, etc.
General Rules:
- Each participant will begin their journey at the Ilshenar moongate of their choice. Their only possessions will be a set of clothing (no armor, magical items, or veteran reward clothing) and any other single non-stackable item of their choice. This could be a weapon, an ethereal mount, a spellbook or Book of Chivalry, a musical instrument, or some other item to help them make their way in the wild. Choose carefully, since the lands of Ilshenar are hostile, and there are no player vendors. Participants may also have a charged runebook. This is ONLY to facilitate getting to the start of the quest and to return home once complete.
- The moongates in Ilshenar may not be used for transportation – all travel will be done on foot or mounted.
- You may use your bank box to store items, provided it is emptied prior to beginning your quest. Paladin’s tithing balance must be zero prior to embarking on the quest.
- This is an individual quest, and designed to be a significant challenge. This quest may take several gaming sessions. Soliciting assistance or having non questers bring you equipment or resources is not acceptable, nor is teaming up with other questers to defeat monsters.
- The quest is done on the honor system, and is provided to give our members a significant challenge and provide excitement and fun. Cheating lessens this, and in the end only the cheater pays. This opportunity is provided once per character, so take advantage of it and enjoy it.
Class Rules:
- Tamers may only enlist the aid of animals (Bears, Stags, Ridgebacks, etc.), not monsters (Imps, Dire Wolves, etc.). A good rule of thumb is that if it’s aggressive, you can’t enlist it. This is done to ensure the quests are not incredibly out of balance (since a tamer could have a dragon in the first hour), while allowing them to use their chosen skill.
- Mages must succeed through using their magic directly. Summoned Elementals and Demons, Blade Spirits, and Energy Vortexes are not allowed. Summoned animals are.
