Bear Clann RPvP

The Clann of the Forest Bear (B-C) is the RPvP stone for Clann Marrach Faol. ‘The Bears’ have been a unique part of Marrach Faol culture for almost two years now, from their beginnings as a concept in one of our guild quests through their current status as the PvP arm of M^F.

The Bear stone has gone through a number of changes over it’s history, both as an RPvP war stone and as an anti-PK stone. But the stone’s purpose has essentially remained the same – to provide our members who are PvP enthusiasts an appropriate place to use those skills. There have been many changes with the release of AoS, and the purpose of the B-C stone has changed as well.

Recognizing that people need a place to express all playstyles, the Bear Clann’s charter has been adapted. Essentially, B-C is our PvP stone. This means all styles of PvP – including PKing and thieving.

B-C Member Guidelines

Bears are free to express the PvP style in any way they see fit, with very few guidelines, which are shown below..

1. Roleplaying is HIGHLY encourages

2. The Bear Mask and select clothing and gear colors are highly encouraged (although not required, in the interest of equipment needs). Colors should stick to browns, tans, and brown/greens.

3. Behave with dignity. Yes, some bears are going to be evil and do things like murder and steal from those that enter their territory – just like some will exclusively hunt reds and defend innocents. But that does not mean we need to trash talk or harass people.

4. All members of B-C must have at least one character in good standing on the M^F stone.

5. Bears should not attack members of Marrach Faol or of those guilds that we maintain friendly relations and/or truces with.

Bear Clann Culture

The bears have existed for over two years now, and are something that is unique to Marrach Faol. They have a culture and a history, and I think it is important to respect that.

The Bear tribe is a roleplayed clann of primitive human barbarians. Their original homes are in the lost lands of Fel, although they have since emigrated. Speech wise, they are not orcs. Best approach to take is broken English and to think primitive culture. If there was one to compare them to, I would look towards the pre-conquest (1066) Germanic and Icelandic barbarian tribes for primary inspiration.

The tribe itself is strictly a Marrach Faol entity. It is something we have created and something that will remain a part of what identifies our family of guilds. We do not recognize `fake bears`, meaning any that are not a part of our family, or dubbed honorary bears by virtue of still being on the M^F stone.

Culturally, the bears have two primary gods… The `Bear God` Who is good, and brings fortune to the tribe, and the `Serpent God` who represents the forces of evil and misfortune. There are other gods (although not fleshed out from a fiction perspective), and their pantheon is anthropomorphic in nature. They believe the essence of their gods are trapped in clay jars that they guard fiercely. One of guild quests, in fact, concerned the theft of the serpent god’s clay vessel.

Dress: Bear masks, fur boots/fur capes, etc. are all good options for bears. Proper tribal dress is highly encouraged but not mandatory (for combat reasons). The one main restriction concerns cloaks. The red cloak is reserved for the chief, the green cloaks for the sub chiefs.

Language. Again, think Nordic/Germanic barbarian tribes – broken English and primitive descriptions are prevalent. There are also some bear unique words (covered below)

Arhoo! – Bear battle cry (equivalent to WOOT!)
Haho! – laughing, equivalent to `lol` or the `har har` of orcs.
Hai! – Bear greeting (hail!)
Ay – Yes
Ny – No
Bash cut sticks – weapons
stone hut people – non-bear humans
urks – orcs

And that’s a short version… more to be added over time.

Bear Clann Leadership

The Bear Clann has a parallel organization and rank structure, and offers advancement for our strongest PvP leaders. The Bear Clann ranks are shown below – M^F rank equivelants are shown in green:
